Passive Optical Networking (PON) is the best kept secret of optical networking. Often used by telecommunications companies to provide the Last Mile, its application still seems to be lagging in other areas. 2024Sight has been working with PON since the very early days. With the right head-end and premise equipment PON allows for very efficient, long distance, LAN-style networking with minimal cable cost.
